A Restolution alternative you can switch to without risk
Restolution has long been the default choice for Finnish restaurants. If monthly fees, a fixed-term contract or the effort of changing your menu make you look elsewhere, this page puts the published terms side by side and shows how Orbis is different: it starts beside your current POS and replaces it only when you are ready.
Per-dish forecast, prep list, draft orders and TES labour cost in one loop
Restolution figures from public sources, read 6 October 2026. Prices and terms change and vary by agreement; check your own contract.
How switching to Orbis works
01
Shadow mode beside your current POS
Orbis reads your existing POS sales history, read-only. Nothing changes at the till and service is not disturbed.
02
Proof before you decide
Orbis forecasts every service and checks itself against what actually happened. You see the accuracy week by week.
03
Menu in by upload
Upload your menu and Orbis sets it up itself, VAT included. This feature is in development.
04
Switch to the CASA till
CASA, the Orbis till, runs on any tablet and keeps working offline. It is planned for January 2027.
05
Time your notice
Check your current contract's fixed term and notice period so the switch lands at the right moment.
What to check in your contract before switching
Under Restolution's general terms of delivery (1 August 2021), the fixed basic fee is collected in advance and not refunded, maintenance outside office hours carries an overtime fee, and training that runs over the agreed time is billed per the price list. Before switching, check at least:
When the fixed term ends and how long the notice period is
Which devices you own and which are rented with the service
How you will export your sales history
What support costs in the evenings and at weekends, when you are open
Why Orbis starts beside your POS
Nobody changes their till on a Friday night. So Orbis earns trust first: in shadow mode it runs the full loop, forecast to prep to orders to rota, beside your current system. When the numbers have convinced you, you move to CASA and end the old contract on its terms.
Questions
Can I try Orbis while my Restolution contract is running?
+
Yes. Orbis starts by reading your current POS sales history and runs beside it in shadow mode, so you don't need to cancel anything to try it.
When can Orbis replace the till completely?
+
CASA, the Orbis till, is planned for January 2027.
How is the menu moved over?
+
The aim is that you upload your menu and Orbis sets it up itself, VAT included. That feature is in development; for R&D partners we do the move together.
Are the prices on this page current?
+
They were taken from Kespro's and Restolution's public pages on 6 October 2026. Prices vary by agreement, so check your own contract.
How do I get access?
+
Orbis is in active R&D with Helsinki design partners. The MVP is testable from December/January, and R&D access is free during testing.
